What do Angels look like in your life?  Kids? Friends? Neighbors? Family? Complete strangers? Or perhaps Snowmen?

(Hello, my name is Kathleen…and I have a freaky thing for Snowmen!..Yes, yes I do!)

My most favorite snowman! He is so cool!

You see, for me this year, I  just haven’t been in the mood to celebrate.  Life, work, stress, anniversaries of parents death, all sorts of things to bring me down.  It’s hard.  A lot of my near and dear friends are having a hard time too.  So this year, I just haven’t been “Into” Christmas.

Please don’t judge…you wouldn’t do that anyway…right?….but the reason for the season has been very far away from my line of sight this year.

The reason for the season…baby Jesus.

And to make matters worse this year…were broke y’all!  Can you relate to that? I mean we don’t even have a money to borrow from Peter or Paul…as the saying goes.  So…we sat the kids down…and had a little talk.  We explained to them the situation: Sad hearts and Sad finances…and that we weren’t “Buying” presets this year.  AND not putting up a Christmas Tree.  Silence.  Wow…..that what we wanted to encourage was a giving of ourselves…our love, time, thoughtfulness, creativity…those things.  After all, isn’t that what Jesus did for us…gave himself for US?!!

Silence

Nods

Blank Stares

Dismissed……………..sigh.

Well, we tried.  And we hoped that something sunk in.  So off to work I went, not knowing what I would find when I got home.  As I turned down the lane to my house….this site met my eyes…I stopped…and had a little cry.  And thanked God right then and there for my family.

It was much, MUCH more beautiful all lit up at night!!

Of course everyone got big hugs and tissues were passed all around…and I thought to myself…this will be OKAY NOW.  This felt OKAY!

As the weekend went on…I would find little angels…everywhere…in the shape of SNOWMEN! (and Ladies!)

Angel #2 – Isn’t it wonderful to have HOT water??!! Were so lucky!

Angel #3-Reminded me that we are lucky to have so much bounty and variety in our food!

This Snow Angel was right there where I prepare our lunches….

The reason for the season…baby Jesus. The Greatest Gift of all…….

When we sat down for dinner…our table was adorned by the manger scene…a remembrance that THE greatest and ONLY gift we need is JESUS!

Angel #4-Reminded me that we are blessed with comforts and rest.

This little Snowman Angels was by my loveseat that I rest/relax and enjoy my evening in every night after dinner and chores are done…

This was my REAL angel this year…..

My youngest and newest daughter…SARENA! You can’t miss her pretty face surrounded by green arrows!

So….words and hearts that were shared earlier DID make an impact on at least one child so far this year, I am very happy and thankful to say.  This “new” daughter of mine managed to reach down and touch this somewhat older gals heart this year…and it hurts just a little bit less now.  And the wonder of the season penetrates just a little bit more now…and I remember and embrace the reason for the season…..just a little bit more now!

What does your Angel look like?  Kids or Snowmen??
