The body is full of energy, which vibrates according to wavelength and frequency. If these waves are imbalanced there will be a direct influence upon the function of the body in that area. They are unable to perform properly and eventually disease and illness will be experienced.
If the harmony to the frequency of the wave is restored, the body’s own healing ability is able to operate more effectively, which will improve health. Harmony allows for the free flow of energy through the body’s systems, whereas disharmony will reduce the flow and cause disruption.

The energy anatomy of our bodies.
Reiki will always go to the area within the client where it is needed most. That could be a physical, emotional, spiritual or psychological level. It is drawn from the therapist’s hands by the client. The client will take only as much as is needed. Reiki is not considered to be draining to the therapist, because the therapist is merely a channel of this energy.
Reiki can relieve pain and acute problems quite rapidly. Chronic illnesses may take a series of treatments, depending on the specific nature of the disease. Whatever manifests itself physically usually also has components on the emotional, mental and spiritual levels. Reiki honors the ecology of the person by working on all theselevels. Reiki goes beyond the symptoms to treat the root cause of the disease. When only the symptoms are treated, the root cause of the illness may never be uncovered.
The Principles of Reiki
It is believed that these guidelines when adopted, can promote healing and awareness on many levels:
- Just for today do not anger
- Just for today do not worry
- Honor your parents, teachers and elders
- Earn your living honestly
- Show gratitude to every living thing
Reiki is not just another healing method, it is a way of life.It is about understanding and living by these principles. It is believed that if everyone followed these guidelines, we would have a peaceful world.
What to Expect During a Session
The client remains fully dressed during a typical session. The room will be dimly lit and at a comfortably warm temperature.
The therapist will use a series of traditional hand placements to distribute energy to the client’s body. Where the hands are placed is usually accompanied by a feeling of warmth or tingling sensation to the client. There is no massage or body manipulation. The therapist’s hands are kept still except to change positions. Each session lasts approximately one hour. The client will feel extremely relaxed and peaceful afterwards, with a sense of inner peace.
How can Reiki help me?
Reiki can reduce stress and help you gain a better understanding of your inner self. Techniques are designed to balance the energy of the body, including physical, emotional, mental and spiritual imbalances. They can be used as a form of natural healing as they can reduce pain and prevent any future pain.
This is because our bodies have an amazing ability to heal themselves. Once the person can connect with their body physically and mentally, their body will guide them to the appropriate treatment.

How do Essential Oils Enhance a Reiki Session?
Reiki and Essential Oils have a certain shared frequency and energy that work together perfectly. My Reiki Master, Jeannie always used oils not only in her personal life, but during Reiki treatments. She educated me about the medicinal & spiritual benefits of essential oils as it related to a Reiki session. These oils when inhaled, applied topically to the skin or diffused in the air can have a positive effect on the client and the practitioner.
What are the best Essential Oils to use during a Reiki Session?
Essential Oils all have their own special structure and make-up; some are anti-inflammatory, some are more hormone balancing and others contain super oxygenating molecules that transport nutrients to the cells of the body. High frequency oils such as Frankincense are used to enhance the vibration and healing process of a Reiki session.
Frankincense: When I apply Frankincense to my hands, it not only protects me from any negative energy from my client, but also enhances the spiritual experience of the entire Reiki session. Frankincense has a very high frequency and works amazing with Reiki energy. I like to rub Frankincense on my hands and then wave my hands over the clients face while they inhale three times at the start of every session. You actually can see their body relax and melt into the table! This is a superb way to start and end a session.
You can find out more about Frankincense HERE.
Sandalwood & Clary Sage: I like to combine both sandalwood and clary sage in a diffuser for my clients to experience during their session. Sandalwood has the ability to enable us to reunite spirit and body, relax the busy mind and bring us more into a meditative state. Clary Sage is very relaxing, soothing and balancing. Bringing about a lighter mood, freedom from tension and a sense of euphoria. You can read more about Clary Sage HERE and enjoy a video about Sandalwood essential oil below:
