Essential oils have gained popularity due to the many benefits attached to them, but it is important to dilute them properly for maximum benefit.

Anyone can use essential oils according to his or her needs. There is a wide variety of oils available on the market to satisfy the diverse never-ending needs of all people.

Different people use different essential oils for a variety of needs. Sensitivity of skin varies from person to person, it’s important to stay aware of this fact when using oils that could cause a reaction if your skin is sensitive. But, no need to fear…with proper essential oil dilution skin sensitivities can be minimalized.

Essential oils are made from all natural ingredients so that there are no side effects. They are quite easy to use and have many benefits attributed to them. They are commonly used for  inhalation; steam inhalation that can help with cold and influenza, topical use; massage that helps in toning the body, and room freshening, bath and beauty, cleaning products in the home and many more uses.

It is true that pure essential oils are volatile oils and can easily penetrate the skin. Using essential oils may cause skin irritation or sensitivity if not properly diluted in carrier oil or if used in high concentrations. Children and the elderly are especially sensitive and are specifically found to be sensitive to neat essential oil (oils applied to the skin without a carrier oil).

Proper dilution of your oils act as a vehicle for applying the oil without issues for sensitive skin, the elderly or children. People who experience skin sensitivity to even mild essentials oils can choose appropriate essential oil dilution. Whenever you use an oil for the first time make sure to test yourself for sensitivity by applying your chosen essential oil in a dilution only to a small skin area before using on a larger area of the body.

Skin sensitivity, types of essential oil used (some oils are considered HOT such as Oregano) and the degree of results you desire determines the dilution needed when using your essential oils. Make sure to take a careful, measured approach when using any essential oil and adjust both the quantity of oil used and the amount of dilution in accordance with the body’s response that will help you make the best use of the benefits of these oils.

Dilution does not affect the benefits of essential oil in any manner. It is just enables essential oils to be suitable for all, even for people with sensitive skin. It is always recommended to buy the essential oil from a trusted source, I trust and only use doTERRA essential oils…you can learn more HERE.
